Medical References at the shadows of Surat Al Kahf:

The Quranic chapter 18 : "The Cave" (Al Kahf) was revealed to answer few questions which the mushriks (unbelievers) of Makkah, had put to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in order to test him.. One of the questions was : Who were "the Sleepers of the Cave" ? The disbelievers of Makkah were told that the story of the Sleepers of the Cave was a clear proof of the creed of the Hereafter, as it shows that Allah has the power to resurrect anyone He wills even after a long sleep of death as He did with the Sleepers of the Cave (they slept over 300 years) .

Allah the Almighty says in this chapter: “Then We smote their ears in the Cave many years.” (18 : 11)

The sense of hearing is a physiological one that does not stop functioning at the time of sleep (the sleeper can wake up at a nearby sound). As the 8th cranial nerve (which passes in the inner part of the ear) has two divisions: one for hearing and the other for equilibrium (position and movement of the head). In the case of Cave Sleepers the physiological function of both hearing and equilibrium did stop, therefore, the Quranic verse uses the expression “Smote their ears..” rather than their hearing.

The other bodily functions were veiled, and the eye did not see though open : “You would have thought them awake, as they lay sleeping” (18: 18).

And their muscles did not move, although they were alive: “While We turned them now to the right, now to the left” (18:18)

Their shape did not change although many years elapsed as they did not notice real changes on their faces when they woke up: “They said: ’We have tarried a day, or part of a day ” (18:19)

Their conditions as such are like that of preserving organs through cooling to cause metabolic inhibition, which is used extensively in the medical field to preserve donated organs (heart, kidneys, cornea, etc) before transplantation into another body. Therefore, the sun inclines towards the right when rising up and towards the left when setting down, so that it will not strike them, while they are in a gap in the cave:
“And you would have seen the sun, when it rose, inclining from their Cave towards the right, and when it set, passing them by on the left, While they are in a gap therein, Such are among the Signs of Allah” (18:17),

So, coolness in this gap in the Cave away from the heat of the sun that did not touch them, was sufficient to inhibit bodily metabolism for the preservation of their bodies all this long period. Had they been only asleep, they would have needed water and food to survive, and would have been awaken by the need to urinate after some hours. But Allah inhibited all their biological functions and preserved their bodies in a living shape. So, He said; “You would have thought them awake, as they lay sleeping”.(18: 18),

and did not say; “You would have thought them dead, as they lay sleeping”, as the sign of awakening is ‘eye wink’. Allah preserved their eyes from blindness through blinking, as the eye if kept closed for a long period of time will be blind, because the optic nerve will shrink and die, and if it is kept open, the cornea will be affected with corneo-xerosis, and blindness. Therefore, this rare status of theirs would have aroused terror, if seen, as they were not alive or dead. They were asleep, yet their eyes were blinking: “Had you observed them surely you would have turned your back on them in flight, and been filled with terror of them.” (18:18)

As Allah preserved their eyes through blinking, He also preserved their bodies from ulcers through constant turning: “While We turned them now to the right, now to the left”
(18:18)
so that they would not be affected with pressure sores.

 A Woman♥♥♥

"When Almighty Allah made the woman she had to be made so special. He ,Subhana wa Taala made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort.
...
He, Subhana Wa Taala gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that comes from her children.

He, Subhana Wa Taala gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

He, Subhana Wa Taala gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child hurts her very badly.

He, Subhana Wa Taala gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.

He, Subhana Wa Taala gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.

And lastly, He, Subhana Wa Taala gave her a tear. This is hers and only hers exclusively to use whenever she needs it. She need no explaination for it.

Peace be to you my friends,

I found this article and thought you could learn something new:

The early Islamic society cared a great deal not only for the natural environment, but also due to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Muslims also extended their care and protection to the animal world. Human beings according to the teachings of Islam are God's vice-regents on earth, and for this reason they must also demonstrate guardianship to all of God's creatures. The Prophet (p.b.u.h) gave many examples to demonstrate the importance and gravity of this custodianship. Among these examples is that he stated that a person would go to hell for starving a cat to death, and another person who would be forgiven all sins for quenching the thirst of dog as it waited by a well.

There are many such examples from the teachings of Islam, for instance, when a Muslim plants or sows something, that an animal or bird feeds itself from, this is a charity in the eyes of God; anyone who treats well his horse will be protected against poverty; the Prophet (p.b.u.h) forbade Muslims from tying an animal and using it as a target, cutting an animal's feet muscles or letting a tied animal die; the Prophet cursed whomsoever mutilated an animal, or hitting animals on the face. Al-Bukhari contains an account of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) himself wiping with his own cloth the face of his horse, and stating that is a good deed for anyone to give even a grain of barley to a horse. It is also forbidden to separate a beast from its progeny or to burn a nest of ants without an adequate reason.

Perron reports from Addamiri that the famed scholar Chibli was forgiven his sins not for his efforts in scholarship, although may God reward him for this also, but because he showed kindness by warming up a cat that was suffering from the cold in a Baghdad street.

Caliph Omar, one of the most distinguished of the Prophet's (p.b.u.h) companions demonstrated exceptional compassion towards animals. In fact he would deal strongly with those who overloaded their 'beasts of burden'. He would actually go to the extent of concealing himself from view and check that people were treating animals well. On one occasion he passed his hand over the wound of a camel intending to help heal the beast, saying, "I fear God may seek retributions from me for the pain you suffer".

Many Western observers would be astonished at the excessive care and provision that the Muslims would provide for animals that may otherwise be seen as a menace. For example, Volney mentions the substantial number of hideous dogs wandering in the streets Cairo and the kites hovering over houses uttering mournful noises. He points out that Muslims kill neither, though both dogs and kites are considered to have impurities. On the contrary, devout Muslims went to the extent of establishing bread and water foundations for dogs.

Thevenot also observed that the charity of the Turks extends to animals and birds. On market days, for example, many people would buy birds with the sole intention of releasing them to be free. Thevenot further noted that people would also leave enormous wealth to feed cats and dogs; some would give money to bakers or butchers for this charitable purpose. In turn those who are charged with this responsibility are more than pleased to carry through the task, and even in the town square.

It was in this spirit that the Muhtasib, or Chief of Police, would not only take responsibility for preventing breaches of the civil and religious law but also for preventing and punishing people for not supplying their animals with sufficient provender or overworking the animal.

Benevolence is commended by the Prophet (p.b.u.h) as the first of all virtues; a benevolence which is indeed extended to all animals. In the hadith collection of Nasa'i, it is said that it is forbidden to kill birds for no reason, most particularly if doing so is merely a leisurely pursuit. The victim, i.e. the bird, will cry to God "this person killed me, and did it for no useful purpose"...

... Islamic law commands that a Muslim should avoid every form of cruelty towards animals, especially within the task of ritual slaughter. For instance, it is stressed that never should a knife be sharpened in front of the beast to be slaughtered, and that no beast should ever be killed in front of others. Any person observing these rules will find reward in paradise.

In medieval times, states Le Bon, the land of Islam was a paradise for animals. Dogs, cats, birds, and all others of the animal world were universally cared for. Birds flew freely inside mosques, and even built their nests in the vicinity of the Mosque. Wild birds crossed the fields without ever being disturbed, and never would a child attack a bird's nest. In Cairo he describes a widely observed fact that there exists a Mosque where cats, at a certain hour of the day, came to fetch their food that a charitable hand had provided for these animals countless times over. Le Bon claimed further that it is from these small details that we can judge the morality of a nation and its people; it shows the kindness and urbanity the Westerner will learn from the oriental.

In conclusion one cites a beautifully touching incident in the life of the grammarian Abu'l Hassan Tahir B. Ahmad B. Babashadh, recorded by Ibn Khalikan, which demonstrates an animal's ability to provide a moral example to a Muslim, and the Muslims ability to accept this:

`Being one day on the roof of the Mosque at old Cairo with some other persons, eating a collation, a cat went over to them and they gave it a bit of meat. The animal took it into its mouth and went off, but soon returned again, on which they threw another morsel to it. This is carried off also, and it kept going and coming a great number of times, at each of which it received from them another bit. Struck with this singularity, and knowing that no single cat could eat all that they had given, they suspected something extraordinary, and followed the animal. Then they saw it clamber over a wall on the roof and go down into an empty place like an abandoned room. There, they found another cat, but blind, eating of the food which had been brought to it and set before it by its companion. They were so much struck with this, and Ibn Babashadh said: "Since God has caused this speechless animal to be served and fed by another cat, and not withheld from its nourishment, how could He let a human being such as I perish of hunger?" He immediately broke off all the ties which bound him to the world; he gave up his place, renounced his salary and shut himself up in a chamber, where he pursued his studies in the full confidence that God would provide for him. His friends then took care of him and supported him till he died.'

Do not despair of the mercy of Allah”
(Quran 39:53)

Alhamdhulillah.....
Dear Sisters..
”If only you knew how special you are to Him.
So much so, that He has demanded that you were protected in every way, Hijab being one of them.

So much so, that life revolves around you; the future revolves around you.

:bulletgreen: GARMENTS...
The best description that I personally have ever read describing the closeness of the spouses to each other is the Qur'anic verse which says:
هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّ
"They are your garments and ye are their garments"
translation from verse 2:187

Indeed, spouses are like garments to each other because they provide one another with the protection, the comfort, the cover, the support, and the adornment that garments provide to humans. Just imagine a journey in the winter without garments! Our spouses provide us with the same level of comfort, protection, cover, and support in the journey of our lives on this earth as garments would do in the winter journey. The relationship between the spouses is the most amazing of all human relations: the amount of love and affection, intimacy and closeness, mercy and compassion, peace and tranquillity that fills the hearts of the spouses is simply inexplicable.

Only the Almighty Allah [The God], glory be to him, in His Infinite Power, Boundless Mercy, and Great Wisdom can create and ingrain these amazing and blessed feelings in the hearts of the spouses. In fact, Allah is reminding those who search for His signs in the universe that these feelings in the hearts of the spouses are among the signs that should guide humans to His existence as He says in the Qur'an:
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
"And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you love and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought."
translation of verse 30:21

Muslims often say the phrase بسم الله (pronounced "Bis-mil-laah" / translated "in the name of Allah[God]") when embarking on any endeavor. for example, when waking up, before eating, before sleeping, before wearing clothes, before leaving the house, before starting an exam, before starting a big project, before having sexual intercourse, before turning on the computer... in fact, the Muslim says Bismillaah before doing everything in his life.

The phrase "In the name of..." is an idiom having the connotation of "with the blessings of", "under the governance of", "as an instrument of", "as a representative of", "on behalf of", "with the support of", or "for the glory of". In each of these cases, the idiom "In the name of" indicates that one is submitting to, honoring or glorifying that which is referred to.

The central idea here is that whatever we do, every step that we take, every breath that we breathe, is done for, because of, and through the essence of, the One who has created us.

It is not us that does the work, it is not us that makes opportunities appear, it is not us that produces fruits from every action. We alone are powerless. The Creator has given us life and has given us the ability to move and think and feel, yet we are totally dependent upon the Creator for the very essence of life itself.

Thus, this beautiful word bismillah is a magnificent reminder of our relationship to our Creator and our relationship to all of creation.

In one simple word bismillah expresses our wonder, awe and thankfulness while it also expresses our innermost prayer that we may have the blessing of another breath, another moment of life, and that we may walk on a path of truth and understanding.

one good thing about Bismillaah is that when the Muslim says it, he is remembering his God while doing what he is doing. this will make the Muslim avoid doing sins. for example, you can't say Bismillaah and go to steal or do a crime. this Bismillaah reminds the Muslim of his God, and enables him to keep his doings in what pleases God.

To say bismillah is to humbly offer one's self as a vehicle for the glory and majesty of The One who has power over all.
Here's something which might be useful for you..

The Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him- said: “Charity is prescribed for each descendant of Adam every day the sun rises.” He was then asked: “From what do we give charity every day?” The Prophet answered: “The doors of goodness are many…enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf, leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying with the strength of one’s legs to one in sorrow who is asking for help, and supporting the feeble with the strength of one’s arms–all of these are charity prescribed for you.” He also said: “Your smile for your brother is charity.”

Narrated ‘Aisha [prophet Mohammed's wife] -may Allah be pleased with her- : "I never saw the Prophet laughing to an extent that one could see his palate, but he always used to smile".

SOME BENEFITS OF SMILING:
:bulletblue:1. Smiling changes our moods
Next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. There’s a good chance your mood will change for the better. Smiling can trick the body into helping you change your mood.

:bulletblue:2. Smiling Is Contagious
When someone is smiling they lighten up the room, change the moods of others, and make things happier. A smiling person brings happiness with them. Smile lots and you will draw people to you.

:bulletblue:3. Smiling Relieves Stress
Stress can really show up in our faces. Smiling helps to prevent us from looking tired, worn down, and overwhelmed. When you are stressed, take time to put on a smile. The stress should be reduced and you’ll be better able to take action.

:bulletblue:4. Smiling Boosts Your Immune System
Smiling helps the immune system to work better. When you smile, immune function improves possibly because you are more relaxed. Prevent the flu and colds by smiling.

:bulletblue:5. Smiling Releases Endorphins, Natural Pain Killers and Serotonin
Studies have shown that smiling releases endorphins, natural pain killers, and serotonin. Together these three make us feel good. Smiling is a natural drug.

Smile with your eyes
The eyes are more essential to a warm, genuine smile. To get a feel for how to make your eyes smile, get in front of a mirror and practice smiling, but concentrate only on your eyes. You may find it helpful to cover the lower part of your face with a piece of paper. Play around with it a bit, and you’ll find that you can make your mouth smile when your eyes aren’t smiling, and you can also smile only with your eyes. When your eyes do smile, remember how it feels, which muscles are working and how. With practice, you’ll be able to smile with your eyes at will.

So everyone, smile, It’s a charity and it’s free! But make sure you brush your teeth well, ok?

Friday Prayer
Bukhari :: Book 2 :: Volume 13 :: Hadith 57

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) talked about Friday and said, "There is an hour (opportune time) on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from Allah, then Allah will definitely meet his demand." And he (the Prophet) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands.
'The smallest of twigs are used to make a bird's nest,
but the strongest of winds cannot destroy it..
Why?
It is not the strength of the twigs that keep it firm,
but the formation of its build..

Just like our IMAAN!

If built correctly, the largest of problems & distractions will not shake our faith.'

HOW STRONG IS YOUR NEST??

A Woman’s Dua for a Righteous Husband, Life Partner !!

O Allah! Please grant me one
Who will be the garment for my soul
Who will satisfy half of my Deen
And in doing so make me whole

Make him righteous and on Your path
In all he will do and say
And sprinkle water on me at Fajr
Reminding me to pray

May he earn from halal sources
And spend within his means
May he seek Your guidance always
To fulfill all his dreams

May he always refer to Qur'an
and the Sunnah as his moral guide
May he thank and appreciate You O Allah
For the woman at his side

May he be conscious of his anger
And often fast and pray
Be charitable and sensitive
In every possible way

May he honor and protect me
And guide me in this life
And please You O Allah! Make me worthy
to be his loving wife

And finally, O Allah!
Make him abundant in love and laughter
In taqwa and sincerity
In striving for the Hereafter

♥♥♥ Women In Islam ♥♥♥

In Islam, a Woman is always under the care of someone.
When she’s young, she’s under the care of her parents.
When she’s married, she’s under the care of her husband. And when she’s old, she’s under the care of her children. These are her guardians and worldly protectors. Look at how Allah takes care of them from birth till death.

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "Recite Surah al Kafirun and then go to sleep after coming to its end, for it is a clearance from Shirk." [Abu Dawud]

Make a habit of Reciting this short Surah at bed time. Should you die in your sleep, your last words will be a denial of Shirk. The reward for reciting this surah is enormous. The Reward for its Recitation is equivalent to the reward for Reciting a quarter of the Qur'an. [Tirmidhi]
